Murphy Riley News

Oct 2018

On September 12, 2018 at Waltham District Court, Attorney Richard A. Christine of Murphy & Riley, P.C. appeared as counsel for the defendant, an alarm service provider, for a jury trial in a breach of contract/ M.G.L. c. 93A claim. Plaintiff's demand was $95,000. After the plaintiff's case-in-chief, Judge Flynn allowed Attorney Christine's motion for directed verdict and ordered that a defense verdict enter. The Court had previously allowed the defendant's pre-trial motions in limine to exclude plaintiff's expert report and to preclude the plaintiff from entering lay opinion testimony. The Court's decisions on those motions arguably set the stage for the Court's decision to allow the motion for a directed verdict.
